Help for Grief
If you or someone you care about is suffering from grief, rose essential oil may help provide some temporary relief. This essential oil is believed to help raise serotonin levels. And when diffused into the air, the scent is calming, but uplifting.
It is imporant to note that a rose fragrance and a rose essential oil are two very different things. While fragrances may smell good, they are not believed to provide the same health benefits as essential oils..
If you are looking for an essential oil to help with sadness, loss and / or grief, Turkish Rose is beautiful. Thousands of rose petals are required to produce just a single drop of essential oil, which is why it is also considered a precious oil. Unfortunately, it is very expensive. However, reputable companies are often willing to sell one or two drops in a glass dram, so it can be carried around and inhaled directly from the bottle. Pricing is impacted by market conditions, but Turkish Rose is typically $5 or $6 per drop.
Another beautiful option is Rose Absolute essential oil. Also considered a precious oil, this one is not cheap either. However, it also has a beautiful scent, is more affordable and can be purchased in smaller quantities. I usually buy 1/4 dram of this one for diffusing and it typically runs about $8.
It depends on the person, but there are numerous ways someone may prefer to use the essential oil. Some people like to add it to mineral salts for the bath. Others also use mineral salts, but instead of taking a bath, they may sprinkle some on the bottom of the shower to inhale the scent as it rises in the steam. Some other options include adding a few drops to unscented lotion, jojoba oil or vegetable glycerin.
By no means is rose essential oil a cure or treatment for sadness and grief. Rather, it may be used as a compliment to other treatment options. Those suffering from grief may find rose essential oil to be a helpful addition for coping with overwhelming sadness.
